National HIV Testing Day is June 27

Each year, on June 27, we join the CDC in observing National HIV Testing Day (NHTD). NHTD observance began in 1995 as a day to encourage people to get tested for HIV, know their status and get connected to prevention, care, and treatment. In 2020, we focus on “Knowing” which is the theme set by hiv.gov and is a call to action to:

  • Know your HIV status by getting tested
  • Recognize new ways to take an HIV test
  • Understand treatment & prevention options
  • Continue the momentum toward Ending the HIV Epidemic

According to the CDC, nearly one in 7 people have the HIV virus and are unaware. Even more people are unaware that medicine exists to prevent contracting HIV and that even if you already have contracted HIV, there are simple treatments to help you live a happy and healthy life.

Approximately 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV today. But not all of them know it. In fact, about 15 percent (or 1 in 7) of them are not aware they are living with HIV. That means there are approximately 165,000 people in the U.S. who do not know that they are living with HIV. They are not getting the care and treatment that can preserve their health and protect their partners from getting HIV, too.”

At Health Merch, we work around the clock to help organizations prepare unique outreach initiatives that will advance communities toward ending the HIV Epidemic. We want to see an end to the HIV epidemic and we want to be part of the solution to help raise awareness for testing, care and treatment. Health Merch is uniquely positioned to do this. As a leader in the promotional Health Care industry our staff is prepared with in-depth knowledge of niche promotional campaigns that support these initiatives including HIV/AIDS Awareness, PrEP awareness, and more.

PrEP & Juntos PrEParados

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (or PrEP) is when people at risk for HIV take daily medicine to prevent HIV. PrEP can stop HIV from taking hold and spreading throughout your body. When taken daily, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV from sex or injection drug use. Health Merch has designed turnkey custom, approachable campaigns that allow health and wellness centers share information about the services they provide as it relates to PrEP. Check out our PrEP and Juntos PrEParados campaigns.

End HIV

Our End HIV campaign is simple, straightforward and bold. Incentives and gift reminders are great ways to encourage patients to come in for check ups and testing. Customize our uniquely designed promotional items with website and contact information to use these items as incentives to encourage and remind patients to get tested.

 U = U

Undetectable means untransmittable. People living with HIV who take their medication as prescribed and have an undetectable viral load, stay healthy and have effectively no risk of transmitting HIV to their sexual partners. Health Merch is helping to spread awareness about U=U to reduce stigma and better educate the greater population. Visit our U=U campaign to see the best products to help you educate your communities. Also, check out positiveseries.org to create a digital campaign to accompany your custom printed U=U promotional products.
